download firefox betaIs it advisable to download Firefox Beta 4?

I am using a Dell Dimension 3000 Computer; running windows XP. Which Firefox version is the most efficient to use on my system; which will use the least space? My computer is already overloaded with up-dates from Windows and its making it run slow. I'm considering getting a technician to wipe-out the old and download all new basic software. So currently,I need a Firefox that is efficient and takes little background space. Thanks everybody.

Thanks
I have been personally using FF4 nightly build for like six months. We have been running stabe betas on a few platforms at work for about the same length of time. Like ALL beta products, you should be careful, but it we think is very stable and we have put it through tens of thousands of browser/hours of use. The other guy is right that we have noticed ramm usage issues during SOME of the builds, but we have not had ANY issues with stability.

IF you are using another browser such as chrome, ie or opera, there is no reason why even a beginner shouldn't also try ff4beta, at this stage of it's development. Alphas, nightly builds and early betas are a bit risk, but beta 12 is pretty nice.

Some plug ins do not work For instance (flash 10.2 64 bit) so we have to run IE8 or IE9RC to view videos.

Your computer is NOT being slowed down by microsoft updates, it is being slowed down by all the junk most people collect with indisdownload firefox betacriminate surfing and downloading. You can easily back up your data and do a factory restore, then do your updates and I'll bet your computer will be ALOT faster without having to pay a tech or pay for an upgrade. You hit control f11 at start up for a factory restore. It is EASY and safe for a beginner to do.

Oli UK has good advice. Gave him a thumbs up. Throw lixux on your older machine, especially one with a good gui and good independent support like ubuntu. It's free and because the requirements are so low, your equipment can run very easily on it.

As of 3/6/11 The RC has not been officially released. The link the other guy gave is for a trunk build. We are in beta 12 as of this date. But it is VERY shortly due. IF you download the beta, it will automatically upgrade itself to RC once it is available, but there is a minor annoyance that it will not update it's "name" on your desktop shortcut.

Chrome is a nice browser and very responsive, but it has SERIOUS privacy issues.

EDIT: as of 3/9 RC is now publicly available. There is NOT an RC2 planned even though "daily builds" are still being updated.
There is no such thing as a small Firefox version. It is not "advisable" to download Firefox 4, because it's UI makes it nearly unusable. However, it will not harm your computer. The smallest version of Firefox would obviously be version 1, whdownload firefox betaich of course would mean it's missing most of the functionality that makes you want Firefox. The smallest Mozilla browser would be Mozilla's original browser. The smallest modern browser is probably Chrome. Uninstalling the crap you're not using would also make sense =\.
I wouldn't download 4 yet
Its still a beta - so its not fully ready yet

I would use 3.x for a few months and then get 4 sometime later unless you *want* to be part of the debugging process

This isn't to say anything bad about firefox - its my favourite browser on windows and linux- but a beta is by definition not widely used and tested yet

Incidentally, you may want to look at putting Linux on your PC at some point rather than repairing your XP installation
The Firefox 4 Release Candidate works fairly well:

for lowest CPU and PSU consumption i recommend Google Chrome - smallest footprint of major browsers out there... but if youre stuck with Firefox i'd say the current stable version is best for efficiency and space saving... the beta probably runs fine
I tried beta 4 and it's laggy with some issues. This is the thing with betas -- they have problems and the point is that you're helping them fix them.
Well Looks Are Good Then FIREFOX 3.6

BUT ACTUALLY IT "SUCKS"
