Well Ford and the maintaince and repairs are about the only Yahoo places for the heavy Ford trucks such as your 1984.
I do occasionally work on mediums but not like others in the shop I woask fordrk at.
There are no real forums for repair that I have found for medium duty trucks as most people don't try to shade tree Medium duty trucks as you would your f-150 for instance...

i own a repair shop and if you would have asked the question you needed to know about it i could probably have answered it for you,but youask ford didn't,good luck with it.
This would be a good place to start. There are a lot of professional and shadetree mechanics here. Even though yours is a 'big' truck, it operates on the same principles as the smaller ones and maybe a few of these guys have worked on the bigger stuff.
If that fails, contact your nearest Ford heavy equipment retailer.
